May 15th - Wine and Perfume Seminar
May 15 2012I'm collaborating with SideTour to explore terroir in wine and perfume. That's right, both a great glass and a good spritz have the power to transport you somewhere else. I'll teach you to identify scent notes and get your nose in gear.
This edition takes place at Atelier Cologne, a jewel of a perfume shop on the Lower East Side that takes inspiration from the quintessential citrus-scented splash to tell all kinds of scent stories.

September 20 2010Next Monday (September 20th) I'll be pouring wines for California producer Terre Rouge, as part of a great initiative to raise money to buy Pneumonia vaccines for kids in need. Rhone Rangers is teaming up with GAVI to help save children's lives while promoting Rhone varietals grown on American soil, two causes I can definitely support, and hopefully you can too.
Come taste wines by a number of producers. For every 12 bottles they sell (you can buy on the spot or order online) $10 dollars buys a vaccine. There will also be a great photography exhibit juried by Nick Kristoff (NY Times) and Ann Curry (NBC News).
I'm proud to be a part of this, and I hope to see some of you there.

Scents of Place
July 20 2010LAFCO and DiVino bring you the premiere Scents&Sensations event, this time with perfume and wine.
WHERE: LAFCO – 285 Lafayette Street (between Prince and Houston)
WHEN: Tuesday July 20th, 6-8pm
The quintessential wine experience engages nearly all of the senses. Wine reveals its story—terroir—in a narrative that opens with careful observation. Color, clarity, effervescence, and viscosity introduce characters and hint at setting. The aromas bring depth and intrigue to the players: grape variety, place, time and technique. Denouement begins on the palate—the tang of youth, harmony of maturity, and sweetness of a late, languid harvest. The resolution ends on a salty note, the memory of a nearby sea.
Fragrances by Italian perfume house Eau d’Italie tell a similar story. Each scent is inspired not only by a place and time, but also by a feeling that reveals itself in olfactory layers. Unapologetically bold and complex as they are specific, Eau d’Italie perfumes are built organically. They begin with the truest scents of place and incorporate an aromatic mélange designed to transport and inspire.
We invite you to discover the places that inspired three Eau d’Italie scents with a tasting of three Italian wines, each carefully selected not only for its place of origin, but also for the sensory tales it tells.
The entire line of Eau d’Italie fragrances will be available to sample and purchase as well.
RSVP: Monikab@lafco.com (LAFCO) or Anniedivino@gmail.com
We look forward to seeing you!
